It’s time for Fall cleanup! Here are a few tips to keep in mind when mowing or mulching leaves:

  1. Fall cleanup is a fun time to involve kids in yard work, but please do not allow children to operate a mower or be in the area when an adult is mowing.
  2. Pro Tip: If you have a lot of leaves, set the front cutting height 1 or 2 notches higher than the rear to allow the leaves to pass under the deck for mulching.
  3. On guard! Keep all the protective devices in place when mowing grass or leaves.
  4. Easy does it; take care when walking on leaves; they can be slippery.
  5. Leaves can also hide toys, rocks, and wires; walk the area to be mowed looking for objects before mowing.
  6. Mow in dry conditions when cutting grass or leaves to reduce clogging.
  7. Play it safe and shut it off; please shut your mower down before clearing sticks or leaves from any part of the mower.
  8. It’s also just as important to keep your hands and feet away from moving components while mowing.
  9. Squeaky clean; after cutting leaves, it is important to clean grass and leaf debris from the mower to help prevent fires.
  10. Fall cleanup is usually the last time the mower is out for the season; check out your manual for Winter storage tips.
